TOURIST VALLEY OF SOGDIAN REGION
The Sughd region is an administrative region within the Republic of Tajikistan and has an ancient history and a unique geographical position. Its center is the city of Khujand, which has a history of more than 2500 years. The population of the region is 2,902,000 people (September 1, 2023).
On the geographical map of the world, Sughd region is represented in the northern region of the Republic of Tajikistan. The territory of the region is mainly formed by mountains. The Sughd province is the third largest region in Tajikistan and consists of 8 cities, 14 districts and 23 towns. This province is an industrially developed region, mining and beneficiation of non-ferrous and rare metals, mining of gold, coal, oil, gas, marble, granite, gypsum, production of light industry products, food industry, trade and agriculture are very well established.
The largest lakes in the region: Iskandarkul and Oksukon.
Iskandarkul has a triangular shape with an area of 3.4 km².
Oksukon is the only salt lake in Tajikistan, which is located in the Asht district of the Sughd region. The bottom of Lake Oksukon is flat, the water depth in the east is 0.7 m and not deep in the west.
The Sughd region is considered one of the developed regions of the economy of Tajikistan, where industries and agriculture are very developed.
In the structure of production of regional products, industrial products account for 107.5% and rank first.
According to statistical reports, as of September 1, 2023, there are 1,057 industrial enterprises operating in the region, and compared to the same period last year, 729 (69.0%) enterprises have increased their production level.
As of September 1, 2023, all forms of agriculture in the region produced agricultural products worth 12686.4 million somoni. And the growth rate compared to the same last year is 15.0%.
The Sughd region is located along the Rokhi Abreshim trade route and is known as the northern trade gate of Tajikistan and the pearl of the Fergana Valley, through which all transport and logistics infrastructures of the Fergana Valley pass. The Sughd region plays an important role in the economy of Tajikistan.
