THE ROLE OF THE LEADER OF THE NATION IN CONSOLIDATING STATE INDEPENDENCE AND NATIONAL UNITY

     In the modern history of Tajikistan, 27 June occupies a special place as one of the nation's most sacred and decisive dates.

Every year, this day is celebrated with great respect and pride as National Unity Day. It symbolizes the triumph of wisdom and tolerance over conflict, the victory of peace and reconciliation over war and division, and the beginning of a new stage in state-building and national revival. For the people of Tajikistan, National Unity is not merely a historical date but a sacred political and moral value and a guarantee of the country's stability and progress. 

     This invaluable achievement was not attained easily. National Unity is the result of the tireless efforts, unwavering determination, and farsighted policy of the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon. During one of the most critical periods in the country's history, when the very existence of the State was under threat, the Leader of the Nation, guided by profound patriotism and a strong sense of historical responsibility, chose the path of peace and national reconciliation. Owing to his initiative and persistent efforts, peace negotiations were launched, opposing sides were brought together, and a solid foundation for lasting peace and stability was established.

     The signing of the General Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and National Accord on 27 June 1997 marked a historic turning point in the development of Tajik statehood. This landmark document not only brought the civil war to an end but also laid a reliable foundation for strengthening state independence, rebuilding state institutions, promoting socio-economic development, and establishing a modern democratic state governed by the rule of law.

     Today, it can confidently be stated that all the remarkable achievements of independent Tajikistan have been accomplished in an atmosphere of peace and national unity. During this period, the country has made substantial progress in the fields of the economy, energy, transport, industry, agriculture, education, science, culture, healthcare, and sports, while the quality of life of its citizens has steadily improved. The successful implementation of the country's strategic national goals and the strengthening of Tajikistan's international standing have likewise become possible thanks to peace and political stability. 

     In addition to ensuring security and stability, National Unity has played a decisive role in strengthening national identity and self-awareness, reviving historical and cultural values, preserving the State language, and fostering patriotism among citizens. It is within this atmosphere of unity that the people of Tajikistan have been able to work together for the prosperity of the Motherland, the development of society, and the well-being of the nation.

    State Independence and National Unity are two inseparable pillars of modern Tajik statehood. While independence grants the nation the sovereign right to determine its own path of development, National Unity serves as the guarantee for preserving, strengthening, and safeguarding that independence. Without unity, independence cannot remain strong, and without independence, the values of unity lose their true significance. 

     Today, safeguarding and strengthening peace and National Unity is the sacred duty of every citizen of Tajikistan. This responsibility rests not only upon the State but also upon every member of society. Mutual respect, tolerance, friendship, brotherhood, civic responsibility, and the protection of national interests should become guiding principles in the life of every citizen.

     Thanks to the State's peace-oriented policy and the preservation of National Unity, the Republic of Tajikistan is now internationally recognized as an independent, peace-loving, and proactive country. Tajikistan's global initiatives in the areas of water resources, climate change, and sustainable development clearly demonstrate the country's growing prestige and international influence.

      National Unity is the greatest historical achievement of independent Tajikistan and one of the most sacred values of our national statehood. As long as peace, stability, mutual understanding, and unity prevail within our society, our beloved Tajikistan will continue confidently along the path of sustainable development, prosperity, and progress.

          Taking this opportunity, I sincerely congratulate all the proud residents of the Sughd Region and the entire people of Tajikistan on the occasion of the 29th         Anniversary of National Unity Day.

           I wish you enduring peace, harmony, mutual understanding, national solidarity, prosperity, and happiness.

         May our National Unity remain everlasting, may our State Independence endure forever, and may our beloved Tajikistan continue to flourish and prosper with each passing day.
