Message from the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Tajikistan on the occasion of International Workers' Day - May 1

In the process of socio-economic life of citizens and representatives of society who are in labor relations. May 1 is a symbolic date and the personification of unanimity and solidarity.

    Following international initiatives, worthy of appreciation by working people in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On Holidays” in our country, May 1 is celebrated as International Workers’ Day.

    In the Republic of Tajikistan, May 1 is celebrated in a high socio-political atmosphere, unity and mutual understanding, creation and improvement.

  It is noted with satisfaction that the creation of a suitable atmosphere for decent work, the creation of enterprises and new permanent and seasonal jobs, the reduction of informal employment and social protection of workers and members of their families are the focus of attention of the Government of the country, especially the Founder of Peace and National Unity - the Leader of the Nation, The President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the respected Emomali Rahmon, and these measures inspire working people.

    Unfortunately, the difficult international situation and the severe consequences of the global world crisis are leading to a further increase in the level of unemployment, poverty, and social deprivation and are affecting more and more segments of the world's working population.

   One of the pressing issues of humanity today is providing decent jobs for people. However, from the point of view of labor safety conditions and social guarantees for workers, the presence of a workplace will also not be a reliable and guaranteed source of improving life.

   Issues of labor protection and labor rights of workers are among the legal and statutory tasks of trade unions. Occurrence of accidents at work causes injury and even death to workers, causing grief, regret and anxiety.

   The Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Tajikistan calls on the leaders of trade union organizations and employers of the republic to celebrate May 1, 2024 as International Workers' Day with special greatness in an atmosphere of mutual understanding, national unity, friendship and brotherhood.
